The National Forensic League offers a number of speaking, literary interpretation, and debate events at district tournaments that determine qualification to the National Tournament. As a national organization, many of the event rules and guidelines serve as model standards for state and local levels of competition.

Whenever a member is entitled to a citation, this form should be filled out and sent to the National Office, but no application should be submitted for a service not specifically listed at the top of this document.

NO COST TO APPLY! Eligible students will be recognized with an official letter to the principal and publication in Rostrum magazine.

The district will permit an auto-qualified student to participate in the district contest and to double enter as specified above. No rule regarding double entry may be violated by auto-qualification. The entry must indicate acceptance of the auto-qualification through his or her Single Entry Letter of Intent prior to the entry’s district competition.

This document provides the specific procedures for determining the national qualifiers in each district. Due diligence must be made to ensure that these procedures are followed to ensure fairness as well as the absence of the perception of impropriety when running the district contest.

Schools that have two entries in every event at a district tournament get two bonus entries.  This document must be completed and returned by the deadline set by your District Committee.

According to National Forensic League rules, a student must establish (prior to double qualification at the District level) which event he or she will attend at the National Tournament. This form MUST be completed PRIOR to the beginning of the District Tournament in which a student potentially double qualifies. Failure to produce this signed form will result in disqualification from the tournament or denial of double entry.
