Marquette University High School Seeking Director of Forensics (Speech)

Marquette University High School is seeking a new head coach for their well established forensics team. The head coach is expected to organize practices, attend roughly ten in state tournaments a year and two national tournaments (if students qualify), organize and supervise an assistant coaching staff, handle team funds, and communicate with school administration. MUHS is a member of the WFCA, CFL and NFL forensics leagues. Departing head coach Peter Woods will also be on hand to help during the transition and also answer any questions.

SAINT PETER'S PREP (NJ) is Seeking A CO-MODERATOR FOR ITS DEBATE AND FORENSICS TEAM

SAINT PETER'S PREP, New Jersey's Jesuit high school, is seeking a co-moderator for its Debate and Forensics Team. Prep is a private, Catholic, all-boys school in Jersey City; its students come from more than 100 different communities across New Jersey and New York City.

In particular, the co-moderator should be prepared to equip students with the skills and theories necessary for both speech and debate competitions. It is expected that the co-moderator will be available in the after-school hours, between 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. (though flexible) as this is the time frame when practice typically occurs.

A stipend will be awarded for this position. Please note that this is not a full-time teaching position in the school. It is for co-moderator of a co-curricular organization.

Bay Area Urban Debate League (BAUDL) seeks full-time Program Director

Program Director Position Description

The Bay Area Urban Debate League (BAUDL) seeks to hire an energetic and devoted full-time Program Director to contribute to the growth of the organization during an exciting phase of strategic and programmatic development. The position is rich with diverse opportunities in education, community development, and non-profit administration.

The BAUDL is a nonprofit organization that partners with school districts in the San Francisco Bay Area to bring the benefits of academic debate to under resourced inner-city high schools. The Program Director plays an essential role in the daily and long-term logistics of the organization, supported by committed volunteers and interns, an engaged board, and a full-time Executive Director. The responsibilities of the position can be divided into three areas: Operations, Development, and Community Engagement. Specific tasks may include:

Operations: (50%)

  • With the Executive Director, plan, prepare, and direct local debate tournaments.
  • Support students by visiting local school sites and participating in practices.
  • Foster relationships with partner schools by engaging in meetings with administration and teacher-coaches.
  • Provide on-going training, assistance, and support to all coaches.
  • Create and develop curriculum and debate material for monthly student workshops and coach professional development.
  • Recruit, train and coordinate volunteers to act as mentors in partner schools and/or judge at debate tournaments.
  • Maintain databases of school contacts and student information.

Development: (25%)

  • Update and maintain donor information on SalesForce.com.
  • Track donor activity, record donations, and help maintain contact with contributors
  • Assist in planning and executing donation mailing campaigns, fundraisers, and high-publicity public events.
  • Explore national and local grants and foundations and contribute to proposal writing process through research and editing.

Community Engagement: (25%)

  • Reach out to community organizations for partnership and collaboration.
  • Update website with information about BAUDL events and programming.
  • Help write and publish press releases to engage local and national media outlets.
  • Draft regular, quarterly news-blasts to be posted on website and sent, via e-mail, to BAUDL supporters.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience debating or coaching debate.
  • Relevant work experience, preferably in a non-profit, administrative, or educational capacity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects and task simultaneously.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and urban youth.
  • Dedication to improving urban education and building youth voices.
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends.
  • Must own reliable transportation.

Preferable Job Qualifications:

  • Collegiate debate/coaching experience.
  • BA, BS or equivalent four-year degree.
  • Familiarity with local landscape of schools and community organizations.

Compensation:
